Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing is expanding its mature-node foundry business to meet rising demand for automotive electronics, industrial automation, PMICs, display driver ICs, and other high-volume semiconductor applications.

Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC) is sharpening its foundry strategy to meet growing demand for mature-node semiconductor manufacturing. The Taiwanese chipmaker is concentrating on customers that require reliable and cost-effective production for applications including automotive electronics, industrial automation, power management and consumer devices.

Having gradually transitioned from a memory-focused business to contract chip manufacturing, PSMC has expanded its foundry services for external customers. The company’s fabrication facilities support established manufacturing technologies widely used for power management integrated circuits (PMICs), display driver ICs and other high-volume semiconductor products.

PSMC believes mature process technologies will remain essential to the semiconductor industry, particularly for automotive microcontrollers, analogue chips and power devices, where long product lifecycles and strict reliability standards favour proven manufacturing processes. The company is aligning its production capacity and customer portfolio to address these market requirements while providing stable manufacturing support to fabless semiconductor companies.

Demand for mature-node chips continues to be driven by electric vehicles, industrial automation, networking equipment and consumer electronics. To capitalise on these opportunities, PSMC is focusing on maintaining balanced fab utilisation through long-term customer partnerships while retaining the flexibility to respond to shifts in market demand.

The company also highlighted the growing importance of supply chain resilience and geographical diversification. Operating manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, PSMC serves customers across Asia, Europe and North America, with an emphasis on manufacturing quality, dependable delivery and close collaboration on customer-specific designs.

Alongside its foundry operations, PSMC continues to produce power management and display driver integrated circuits used in a wide range of consumer, industrial and lighting applications, underscoring the continued importance of mature-node semiconductor manufacturing in the global chip industry.
