MulticoreWare Acquires Simulus Automation to Expand Semiconductor Design and Verification

04 September 2026 | NEWS

Acquisition combines AI software and high-performance computing expertise with FPGA, CXL and PCIe capabilities to accelerate heterogeneous SoC development and time-to-market.

MulticoreWare, Inc., a global technology company delivering AI software solutions, accelerated computing technologies, and advanced engineering services, announced the acquisition of Simulus Automation Pvt. Ltd., a semiconductor design and verification specialist serving customers developing SoCs, chipsets, and accelerator technologies.

The industry is shifting toward hardware-software co-design. Today's heterogeneous System-on-Chips (SoCs) are expanding beyond traditional CPU, GPU, DSP, and NPU architectures to integrate programmable logic (FPGAs) directly into the SoC fabric, bringing power advantages and flexibility. Managing high-speed data across these architectures requires solving connectivity bottlenecks.

To meet this transformation, MulticoreWare is integrating Simulus Automation's hardware capabilities with its legacy of high-performance software engineering. This acquisition bridges the gap between silicon design, verification, and software deployment, creating a unified pipeline from architecture to production.

"The semiconductor industry is entering a new era driven by heterogeneous compute, intelligent edge devices, and autonomous systems. Bringing Simulus into the MulticoreWare family ensures our clients can benefit from tightly integrated design pipelines, maximise power efficiency, solve interconnect challenges, and accelerate time-to-market," said AGK Karunakaran, President & CEO, MulticoreWare.

This acquisition enhances MulticoreWare's capabilities across:

FPGA-Native High-Performance Engineering: MulticoreWare completes its heterogeneous compute portfolio by combining its CPU, GPU, DSP, and NPU expertise with native FPGA capabilities. With expertise in High-Level Synthesis (HLS) and RTL implementations, the team supports sensor fusion and Physical AI workloads for edge and robotics applications.

Advanced Connectivity Protocols (CXL & PCIe): As data transfer becomes a constraint in advanced SoCs, solving connectivity is paramount. The acquisition brings extensive design and verification expertise in CXL and PCIe protocols, enabling high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnects for distributed processing.

Cloud FPGA Scalability: The combined engineering force expands MulticoreWare's ability to distribute repetitive workloads onto Cloud FPGAs, enabling customers to deploy and emulate AI workloads with global hyperscalers.

"Joining MulticoreWare creates exciting opportunities for our employees and customers. By combining Simulus' design verification expertise with MulticoreWare's global semiconductor and AI capabilities, we can deliver even greater value to customers developing the next generation of silicon platforms," said Karthick Gopal, CEO of Simulus Automation.

As demand for AI infrastructure, spatial intelligence, industrial automation, and edge computing grows, the combined organisation will help customers address complex silicon and software challenges.
